The reciprocal memberships hack

One membership can unlock discounts or free entry elsewhere. Rules are strict — always call ahead and bring your card + photo ID.

🦒 AZA (zoos & aquariums)

A Maryland Zoo membership gets 50% off at 150+ zoos & aquariums nationwide (usually up to 2 adults + 2 kids). The cheapest qualifying level is Individual ($70). Maryland Zoo reciprocal list ↗

🔬 ASTC Passport (science centers & children's museums)

Free general admission at participating science centers/children's museums — only those more than 90 miles from your home museum and your home. Group memberships must cost at least $100 to qualify. Great for road trips, not for local visits. ASTC FAQ ↗

🎨 NARM (art & history museums)

Free/member admission at 1,000+ museums with a qualifying NARM-level membership. In Baltimore the Baltimore Museum of Art is on the Fall 2026 list. NARM Fall 2026 list ↗

💳 Museums for All (EBT)

Show SNAP/EBT + ID for free or ~$1–5 admission for up to 4 people. Museums for All ↗

The hack, step by step

  1. Pick the home membership you'd use most locally (e.g. Maryland Zoo CoRE $180).
  2. Check that your level is reciprocal-eligible on the official list.
  3. Before a trip, call the destination to confirm current reciprocity and guest limits.
  4. Bring membership card + matching ID; buy at the gate if online won't apply the discount.

Special events, IMAX/planetarium and parking are usually excluded.
